Prayer for Advent Candle of Hope

Today is the beginning of Advent, a time where we prepare ourselves to celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is a season of hope, and it’s important that we keep our eyes on the promise that God gave us when he sent his son into this world. We have been given many gifts in life and many blessings over the years, but nothing compares to what God did for us when he sent his only son Jesus Christ into this world as a human being so that he could be our savior. Please join me in praying for all who are struggling with depression or anxiety by lighting your candle today.

Dear Lord,

In this season of hope, we pray for everyone. We pray that you would be with those who are suffering from terminal illnesses and those who are struggling with health problems.

We ask that you give forgiveness to those who need it. Grant strength to those who lack the will to go on.

Above all else, we ask that you would bless each of us with your presence as we celebrate Advent together.

Thank you for this season of Advent.

As we prepare for our Advent candle of hope, we lift up to you the things that fill us with hope:

Peace
Joy
Forgiveness
Love

Thank you for the hope that you are bringing into our lives and into the world.

Hope is a gift from God, who offers us his love and asks only that we offer it in return.

You bring hope to us by revealing your love through Christ’s birth, through miracles such as feeding thousands with one loaf of bread, healing sick bodies and broken hearts. We see in you an example of what can happen when we live out our faith in small ways every day–giving food to those who need it; giving money when there isn’t any left; offering help when someone is lost or confused or afraid.

Hope is more than just something we feel; it’s also something that drives us forward as individuals and as communities, keeping us going even when times get tough or when things don’t go according to plan (which happens all too often). Hope reminds us that even though things seem dark now, there will be light at the end of this tunnel—we just have to keep moving forward until then!

Thank you for sending your son Jesus to bring us peace. As we come before you to pray, we thank you for your forgiveness, strength and hope.

Lord, we pray for those who are struggling with health problems today. We lift up those suffering from terminal illnesses such as cancer and diabetes. With the advent candle of hope, we pray that you give strength to them and their caregivers, who may find themselves overwhelmed by life’s challenges.
