What is Blessed Carlo Acutis?
Blessed Carlo Acutis is a Catholic saint who is venerated in the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church. He is also known as Carlo Acutis of Verona. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006. Blessed Carlo Acutis was born in Verona, Italy, on January 25, 1226. At the age of twelve, he began his studies at the University of Padua. In 1248, he entered the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. In 1254, he went to the Dominican convent at Mantua to study theology.
In 1259, he traveled to Palestine to preach Christian doctrine to Muslims. On his return journey home, he stopped in Constantinople and converted to Orthodoxy. On November 21, 1260, he was tonsured a monk with the name John. On December 1 of that year, he took monastic vows and was given the name Carlo Acutis.
In 1262 or 1263, he returned to Italy and became rector of the convent at Verona. In 1278 or 1279, he went to Rome to meet Pope Nicholas III and plead for help for his fellow friars in Sicily who were being persecuted by
