Prayer For Owen Meaney

When Owen Meaney went missing from his family’s vacation home in Puget Sound in May of this year, the entire community was struck by deep sadness. Owen, a bright and loving six-year-old boy with parents who were both successful attorneys, was last seen playing near the waterfront. Nearly three months later and with no sign of Owen, family and friends held prayer vigils and organized searches in an effort to find him.

Background on Owen Meaney

Owen Meaney was born on February 12, 2003, in San Francisco, California. He was raised in a religious family, and he always felt a strong connection to God. In October of 2008, at the age of six, Owen’s parents were driving him home from school when they were hit by a drunk driver. Owen was seriously injured and had to have several surgeries. Despite the severity of his injuries, Owen remained positive and looked to God for comfort.

In November of 2009, just two weeks after his seventh birthday, Owen passed away due to cardiac arrest caused by the injuries he sustained in the accident. Despite his short life, Owen left a lasting legacy of faith and compassion. He is remembered fondly by his family, friends, and community members who continue to pray for him and celebrate his life every year on Saint Patrick’s Day.
