Nightly Prayer For Couples
We all need to pray for our relationships. Prayer is a great way to get the help you need when your partner seems distant, or when things aren’t working out quite as well as they used to be.
Dear God,
Dear God,
We are so grateful that you have given us each other. We pray that your grace would be upon us and unite us to become one heart and soul, being one in purpose and spirit. May we always be open and honest with each other; may we cultivate love for one another; may we find strength in our unity; may we grow more confident together in your presence. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!
Please bless our love.
Please bless our love. We pray that you will send the Holy Spirit to guide and guard our relationship. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
We thank you for your blessing, Lord God! We pray that you will strengthen our bond of love so that it can withstand any test or trial we may face during this time of stress, anxiety or doubt in our lives. Please help us to rely on each other more than we do on ourselves or anyone else to help us through difficult times such as these! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen
Help us to remember that love is a verb; that a feeling comes and goes but action is what makes it grow.
Love is a verb. Love is not a feeling, it’s an action. This can be difficult to remember when your heart feels like it’s been ripped out of your chest and you want nothing more than to curl up in bed alone and cry until the world ends. But if you want to love each other well—and get through this season of life together—remember that love isn’t just declaring your feelings or naming what you have together. Love is a choice, a decision, an action that grows over time through commitment and promise.
In times of ease, give us the strength to go out of our way to do thoughtful things for one another.
These are the things that help us to love one another. These are the things that help us to trust one another, and we must be careful not to take them for granted. In times of ease, give us the strength to go out of our way to do thoughtful things for one another.
- Be kind: When you have a choice between being right and being kind — choose kindness every time.
- Be loving: Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude; it does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices with the truth (1 Cor 13:4b-6).
In times of trouble, give us the insight to know when not to try and fix it all on our own.
We know that you’re not perfect, and we love you for it. But in times of trouble, give us the insight to know when not to try and fix it all on our own. When we have troubles or challenges, help us to understand that you are the only one who can truly help us. Help us to see when we need to ask for advice from those around us who have wisdom and experience in this area.
We pray that if there’s something about our situation that is beyond our ability to handle by ourselves (and there probably is), then provide a way for us to seek council from others with wisdom and integrity so as not put ourselves at risk of making life more difficult than it needs be or even worse harming each other through some ill-advised actions taken without thought or proper consideration given first before acting hastily without thinking things through carefully first.
Help us to be the kind of partner we would want for ourselves.
- Be kind.
- Be patient.
- Be honest.
- Be loving.
- Be generous.
When we are weak, show us how much stronger we can be together.
As a couple, we will be stronger when we work together than apart. When we are weak, show us how much stronger we can be together.
We can help each other to do good things. We can support each other through tough times and celebrate each others’ successes. We can help each other to become the people you created us to be: people whose lives bring glory to your name and honor the way you designed them from before our births (Psalm 139).
Prayer can be helpful when you’re struggling in your relationship.
Prayer is a great way to feel closer to God, and it can also help you feel closer to your partner. When we pray together, it reminds us that we’re in this together. We’re not alone on our journey of marriage; God is walking with us every step of the way. Prayer also gives us confidence, peace, and hope for our relationship when things get tough.
When you come together with the intention to pray for your relationship, it is an act of mutual love and respect. It strengthens the bonds between partners and gives them strength to tackle any obstacle they may face together. Prayers also provide comfort when one partner feels overwhelmed or discouraged by outside forces that threaten their relationship.
