Most Efficacious Prayer To St Anthony
St Anthony takes his name from the town of Padua in Italy. He was born around the year 251 A.D., and he lived as a Franciscan friar until he died in 1337 at the age of 106 years old. His life became so well known that many people began to pray to him for help with lost items or troubled times, and St Anthony became known as “the patron saint of lost items” and “the patron saint of finding peace.”
St Anthony,
St Anthony, also known as St Antony of Padua, is one of the most well-known saints in the world. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal sometime during 1195 AD and died on June 13th 1231 in Italy. He was a Franciscan priest and preacher who became famous for his work with animals and lost things. As such, he is considered to be the patron saint of lost things (as well as those who find them!).
St Anthony’s feast day is celebrated on January 17th each year; however, many Catholics celebrate it on June 13th instead because this is when his remains were moved from Italy to Lisbon. Some other countries also observe their own version of St Anthony’s Day celebrations on this same date as well–most notably Spain (which observes San Antonio de Padua) and Italy (which celebrates San Antonio Abate).

The following prayer was written by St. Alphonsus Liguori, a saint of the Church who devoted his life to preaching about prayer and its importance.
O blessed St. Anthony, model of all virtues, teacher of the art of holiness; teach me how to live happily on earth and win happiness in heaven! After so many years of wandering astray from God, I have at length resolved to follow Thee in all things; but first teach me how I ought to begin my conversion, so that it may be fruitful and lasting. How shall I flee from sin? How shall my heart be cleansed from the stains with which it is polluted? Whence shall come strength against temptation? Oh! if Thou wilt not take pity on me, who will help me? None but Thee can heal my wounds; none but Thee can bring back peace into my soul; none but Thee can restore peace between heaven and earth as far as Thy power extends over both worlds!

It is not so much the gain itself that I seek, but rather some consolation in my loss. If you restore to me peace and tranquillity of mind, the loss of which has afflicted me even more than my material loss, I will be happy indeed.
