Rosary Prayer For Death Anniversary

We pray this rosary prayer for the souls of those who have passed on. We pray that they find comfort and peace in God’s loving arms.

The 1st Joyful Mystery- The Annunciation of Our Lady (Luke 1:26-38) Our Father, 1 Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father

For the first Joyful Mystery, we pray this prayer:

Our Father, 1 Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father.

“And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.” (Luke 1:26-27)

“And the angel came in unto her and said: Hail thou that art highly favoured! The Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women!” (Luke 1:28)

“And she was troubled at his saying but nevertheless she conceived by faith.” (Luke 1:29)

“Then said Mary unto Elizabeth her cousin: ‘Lo I am a handmaid of the Lord; let it be done unto me according as you have spoken.'” (Luke 1:38)

The 2nd Joyful Mystery -The Visitation of Our Lady (Luke 1:40-55) Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, Glory be to the Father

The second Joyful Mystery is the Visitation of Our Lady. Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who was also pregnant with a son named John (who would later become one of Jesus’ disciples). As they conversed together, Elizabeth said: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”

The Visitation is a reminder that we should always pray for one another and help each other grow spiritually through love and service.

The 3rd Joyful Mystery -The Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 2:1-7) Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, Glory be to the Father

Today, you will pray the rosary for the person who died. Pray that they go to heaven, that God will welcome them into his home and shelter them from evil.

  • Begin with the Sign of the Cross
  • Say: “Our Father, who art in Heaven…”
  • Say: “Hail Mary, full of grace…” (10 times)

Thank God for all he has done for us and ask him to grant us forgiveness for our sins and strength to live good lives.

The 4th Joyful Mystery -The Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple (Luke 2:22-39) Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, Glory be to the Father

  • The 4th Joyful Mystery -The Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple (Luke 2:22-39)

Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, Glory be to the Father.

  • In this mystery we see Jesus presented by Mary and Joseph to God at the Temple. It was a Jewish tradition that when a boy turned two years old, he was to be brought before the priest for inspection so that he might be ritually cleansed from original sin. The journey from Nazareth took about ten days on foot, so it is likely that they arrived at Jerusalem during Passover season—when many Jews were traveling to and from their homes for religious observances. Upon arriving in Jerusalem, Mary and Joseph must have been overwhelmed by its magnificence; Herod’s reconstruction of Solomon’s Temple had just been completed just two years earlier!

The 5th Joyful Mystery -The Finding of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:41-52) Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, Glory be to the Father

The fifth Joyful Mystery is the Finding of Jesus in the Temple.

The story begins with Mary and Joseph finding their son, Jesus, as a young boy sitting among teachers who were listening to them teach. They were amazed to see him there because it was unusual for children to go into the temple at such an age.

Mary treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart. She was thinking about how she would teach her son everything he needed to know about God so he could grow up and become the Messiah.
