Prayer Service for Immaculate Conception

Prayer Service for Immaculate Conception

This service is a good way to get started with writing your own prayers, as it covers some of the basics. The prayers are also brief and easy to memorize for those who want to use this as an introduction to liturgical prayer.

Opening Prayer

O God, who showered your grace upon the Immaculate Virgin Mary from her conception; grant that we who celebrate this feast may share in her holiness and be enriched by the power of your presence.

In our prayers for Pope Francis and all bishops, priests, deacons and consecrated persons, we ask for a greater closeness to Christ and readiness to serve him.

We also pray for those who suffer because of war or other calamities. In particular we ask for peace in Syria and throughout the Middle East. May Christians in Iraq know that they are not forgotten; may Muslims see why Christianity is so beneficial to society; may Jews discover anew the wisdom of their ancient prophets; may our brothers and sisters everywhere find comfort in your love which never fails.

Finally we ask that you continue to guide us according to your will so that all people everywhere might come into unity under one banner: Yours!

Scripture Passage

This Sunday is the first Sunday of December, which means it’s time to commemorate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This special day commemorates when Mary was conceived without original sin, making her pure and holy.

Mary was born without sin, so she is pure and holy.

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception also gives us an opportunity to reflect on our own lives and ask ourselves if we are truly living as God wants us to live?

Responsorial Psalm

Responsorial Psalm 19 (Psalm 8): “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

Responsorial Psalm 8: “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, The moon and stars that you have established;”

Responsorial Psalm 67: O God, save me by your name; vindicate me through your might.

Responsorial Psalm 99: “Hear us when we call on you!”

Gospel Acclamation

The Gospel Acclamation is a response to the reading of the Gospel. It is a call to worship and praise, a call to give thanks, and a call to respond with joy. It also serves as a reminder that we are called by God at all times, no matter what our circumstances may be. The Gospel Acclamation also reminds us that this world is passing away and that we must prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ in glory at His Second Coming.

Gospel Passage

We will be reading the Gospel of Luke, chapter 1. This tells of Mary’s visit to Elizabeth, who was expecting her first child. The angel Gabriel told Mary that she would have a child, who would be known as Jesus.

A service for the Immaculate Conception

A service for the Immaculate Conception is a way to pray for the Virgin Mary, honor her, ask her to intercede for us, and thank her for all she has done for us.

The Immaculate Conception refers to Jesus’ conception in the womb of Mary without original sin. This means that when Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit descending upon Mary and entering into her body, he was free from sin from the moment of his conception (see Ps 51:5). He did not inherit original sin from Adam because he had no human father; Adam’s sons inherited his sinful nature because they were born through him. But Jesus did not have any human father so he could not inherit sinful nature from anyone else other than God Himself (see Is 7:14-15).

Conclusion

As we conclude our prayer service for the Immaculate Conception, we ask that you pray for all those who struggle to live their lives according to the tenets of this wonderful devotion. May God bless all those who are seeking a deeper understanding of the Immaculate Conception and its meaning in their own lives. We are proud to call ourselves men and women of faith and we hope that our prayers will be able to bring peace and harmony into your hearts as well!
