Prayer For Fallen Police Officers

Prayer For Fallen Police Officers

We pray for those who have died in the line of duty, and for their families who mourn for them.

Almighty God, we remember with gratitude those who go in harm’s way

Our police officers are in harm’s way. They put their lives at risk to uphold justice and the rule of law. They are heroes. It’s tempting to think of them as robots, but they aren’t. They’re human beings who make mistakes, just like we all do—but they don’t deserve to die for them.

Let us pray for all those who stand in harm’s way: that they may be kept safe from harm; that they may do their work well; and that they may return home safely when their work is done.

and put their lives at risk to uphold justice and the rule of law.

We pray for all police officers, who put their lives at risk to uphold justice and the rule of law.

We pray for those who have died in the line of duty,

As you pray, join your heart with others who are praying.

  • Pray for peace and healing in the families of those who have died in the line of duty. Pray that God will comfort them, strengthen their faith and help them to trust Him completely.
  • Pray for the officers who are still working and fearing for their lives. In Christ we find strength and courage to face our fears, overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).
  • Pray for their departments as they mourn officers who have been taken from them too soon by violence or illness. We need each other as churches and communities come together for support during this time of great sorrow.
  • Ask God to bring healing where there is hurt between police departments and community members struggling with deep issues such as racism or poverty which may lead someone toward violence against police officers; work together with law enforcement officers on mutual goals like increased safety in neighborhoods where both citizens and police live peacefully together; provide opportunities through education programs so young people can develop job skills instead of turning toward crime or gangs; reflect on how we treat each other every day so that when tragedy strikes we’ll realize how much more love needs to exist among us all—especially within our own homes
  • And for their families who mourn for them.
  • For those who were injured or lost in this attack.
  • For the entire police force of Dallas and for their families who mourn for them.

Bless all Departments of law, that they may never be instruments of violence or oppression,

You are the Lord, who made heaven and earth. You are God, who created the world and everything in it. You have always been here and you will always be here.

You were there when I was young and weak. You were there when I was sick, when I felt alone, when my family disintegrated around me due to divorce (I know those feelings well).

You’ve seen all that has happened since then—the people who have hurt me deeply; the people who have stepped up to help me; the people who helped shape my journey towards being healed from childhood abuse and towards being a better person than I would have been without them.”

Energize them with courage and love, so that all people may live in peace and safety.

  • Energize them with courage and love, so that all people may live in peace and safety.

Amen.

Amen is a Hebrew word, meaning “so be it.” Amen is used to express agreement or acceptance. It is often an affirmation of a statement made by someone else. When you say amen to your pastor’s sermon, for example, it means that you agree with the message and accept it as truth.

Amen is also frequently used at the end of prayers or blessings. This helps show that one agrees with what was just said and accepts whatever was being prayed for as true and meaningful in their life.

Pray that God would protect other police officers as they continue to serve our communities. Thank God for those who have served and are serving our country and community with honor, courage and commitment.

Pray for all those affected by this act of violence against law enforcement officers: family members, friends, fellow officers and community members who may be shaken by this news.

We’re grateful to all of our police officers—and we know that you are too. Their work is vital to our communities, and their dedication can inspire us all. In this time of mourning and reflection, let’s remember them by praying for those who have died in the line of duty, and for their families who mourn for them. It may seem like a small gesture, but it means so much when we come together as one community with one voice: We can make the world a better place through love and peace!
