When we think of prayer, many images come to mind. We might picture a devout individual standing in a church or temple, lifting their hands towards the heavens. But what about when we are struggling and need help? Prayer can be anything from simply saying “thank you” to imploring for guidance and support.
One woman is hoping that a prayer for her own mother will be answered soon. Bethany writes, “My mom is battling stage 4 cancer and I’m just really hoping for a cure. I know she’s strong, but I just want her to be okay.”
Many people choose to pray for loved ones who are fighting a disease because they believe that it is futile to hope for a cure without asking for help from the Lord. However, according to Bethany, praying for her mother has helped her feel connected to the situation and reminded her that there are people out there who care.

Unfortunately, many mothers don’t get the rest they need because of the demands of parenting. Prayer can be an excellent way to help Mom get the rest she needs so that she can provide the best possible care for her children.
When you pray for someone, you are asking for guidance and support. When you pray for your mother, you are also asking for her safety and well-being. Make sure you specific things that you want to happen during the night, such as a peaceful sleep, since this is not guaranteed. However, by praying together, both you and your mother can have a positive impact on her health and quality of life.
If you are struggling with sleep yourself or know someone who is, prayer can be an excellent way to help. Start by finding a comfortable position to sit or lie in. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths before beginning your prayer. Thank God for all He has done for you and your mother throughout the day.
