Prayer For Healing A Broken Heart

There is a healing balm for a broken heart, the balm of God’s love. It will heal your pain and set free your soul from the burden of bitterness and unforgiveness.

Lord, I come to You broken hearted.

I come to You broken hearted.

Lord, I come to You sad and sorrowful.
Lord, I come to You lonely and empty.
Lord, I come to You alone and unhappy.
Lord, I come to You dismissed and discarded by the one who said they’d love me forever.

Thank you for Your love, your mercy and compassion.

You are the one who created us in your image. You love us unconditionally, even when we do not deserve it. We appreciate that.

You have shown us mercy by forgiving our sins because we know that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:31-39). This is something we will never forget!

And because of Your great compassion, you have made a way for all people to find salvation through Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:4-6).

Lord Jesus, I pray that You will envelop my broken heart with Your healing love.

I thank You that Your grace is sufficient in all circumstances and in my weakness Your strength is made perfect.

I ask You to bind up the wounds of this broken heart so that it might be whole again.

I thank You for keeping me from getting into situations where I would be tempted to break up with this person again.

Grace means “God’s love and mercy.” We cannot earn it, but it is freely given to us by God. Grace is God’s forgiveness of our sins, His help in times of need, His strength when we are weak and weary, His power to do what we cannot do on our own. Grace is also favor from one person to another; it refers to the special treatment someone receives due solely to their character or relationship with another person; for example: “The teacher gave her student a free pass because she was related to the principal.”

Fill me now with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and help me to fix my thoughts on You.

You can be filled with the peace of God.

This is a gift from God, who created you and loves you. The peace of God goes beyond all understanding (Philippians 4:7). It’s a gift that goes beyond logic, reason and human knowledge. The Bible says that in this world we will have trouble, but with God’s help we can endure it (John 16:33).

That’s why I trust that when I pray for healing from my broken heart today, His healing will come to me.

I receive your healing balm as I surrender my broken heart to You

Receive my broken heart, Lord. I give it to You because I believe that You can heal what is broken in me.

I surrender my pain and sorrow to You, knowing they are signs of my humanity and not indicators that I have failed somehow.

I lay down my hurt and anger at Your feet because I love You, God—and because it’s hard for me to carry those feelings around all day long!

Give me a new heart, O God; put a new spirit within me.

You can’t change other people, but you can change yourself.
You can’t control other people’s actions, but you can control your reaction to them.
You can’t make someone love you, but you can let them go and find someone who does.

Heal this pain Lord and help me to forgive those who have hurt me that I may be set free from this burden of bitterness and unforgiveness.

Dear Lord, thank you for your forgiveness and all the ways that you have set me free. I am so thankful that I can come to you and open my heart to you because of your love and mercy.

I ask that you help me to forgive those who have hurt me so deeply in this time of heartbreak. I do not want to be bitter or hold on to unforgiveness, but instead allow myself to heal from the pain caused by their actions.

Forgive them Lord, as only You can, for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34). For these people may not realize what damage they are causing with their words or actions, but You see everything and understand it all for what it really is: hurtful and destructive towards others.

May the peace of God which transcends all understanding guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

As you pray these words, imagine a light flooding your body from head to toe. You may even feel like you’re glowing with an inner light that makes you feel warm inside. This is called the “golden glow,” and it’s often experienced when we are filled with joy or love for others (or ourselves!).

I pray that you will find peace in this prayer. I know it will not be easy, but I believe that God wants you to heal and be restored to wholeness. He is willing to do this for us if we are willing to receive His love and grace.
