Protect me O God, from all that is evil and get rid of any evil hanging over me. Give me strength against my enemies, visible and invisible. We want to ask God to help us understand how holy He truly is so that we may take care not to dishonor Him through sin or blasphemy against Him. In addition, this phrase reminds us how much we should value all things related to God Himself because nothing else could ever compare with what He deserves from each one of us in return for our salvation through Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary’s cross where he died in our place so that we might live again because he has given his life for ours (Eph 2:8-9).

The next line says “Thy kingdom come.” This prayer asks that God’s will be done on earth just as it already exists Heaven above; in other words: “May your will come true here below as it now does above.”
