Advent Call to Worship

Advent Call to Worship

Advent is a special time of year, one that calls us to reflection and repentance. As we approach the Christmas season, it’s a perfect time to take a look at the things we’ve been neglecting and to repent for our sins. In this blog post, we will explore what Advent is all about and how you can use it as an opportunity for personal growth. We hope you will find inspiration in these words as you prepare for the holiday season.

Scripture readings for the day: Isaiah 66:1-24
“Therefore, behold, I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind. But you will remember the former days, the years when you traveled around in the wilderness, when you were hungry and thirsty, and wore rags from your body; and you were homeless and refugees among strangers. And now I am giving you this land as your own.”

God proclaims an end to wanderings and a renewal of life in His land. He reminds His people of His faithful love demonstrated throughout their history – from their time in exile to their present possession of this special place. God calls on us to “remember the former days” of our journey with Him by fasting, weeping and praising Him during Advent.

What is Advent, and why is it important?

Advent is the time leading up to Christmas and it is an important time of year for Christians. Advent celebrates the coming of Christ, and it is a time to prepare for his arrival. The main purpose of Advent is to focus people on Christ and to encourage them to worship Him.

Advent begins on December 1st each year, and it lasts until Christmas Day. There are several things that people do during Advent, including praying, fasting, and spending time with family and friends. Christians also use Advent as a time to reflect on their faith in Christ.

The four Sundays of Advent

During the four Sundays of Advent, we are called to come together as a community and join in worship. On this day, we focus on repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. We remember that through Christ’s death on the cross, we have been forgiven and have been given new life. In worship on these Sundays, we come before God asking for forgiveness and for guidance for the coming year. We also celebrate the coming of Christmas by singing Christmas carols and lighting up our homes with decorative lights.

The message of Advent

In the gospel reading for today, we hear the call to worship. After Jesus has taught in the temple, He heads out into the countryside to visit some of His disciples. As they’re sitting together eating, He tells them a story about a foolish king who sets a very high holiday wish list and then doesn’t have enough money to buy any of it.

We don’t know what Jesus’ disciples said to Him when He told them this story, but we can be sure that they were listening carefully. Christmas is all about remembering and honoring what God has done for us – even when we don’t have everything in life that we want.

This year, as we prepare to celebrate Christmas, let’s remember that our ultimate goal is to come before God in humble worship. May Christmastide be a time of joy and wonder as we remember all that God has done for us – both big and small – throughout the year.

Why we should celebrate Advent

Advent is a time to come together as a church and focus on worship. It is the time of year we prepare for Christ’s return, and it’s an opportunity to get closer to God. There are many reasons to celebrate Advent, and here are five:

1) Advent is a time of reflection. We can learn about God by reading His Word and praying about what we’ve read.

2) Advent is a time of repentance. We need to turn away from our bad habits and remember our Savior.

3) Advent is a time of waiting. We hope for Christ’s return, but we also wait patiently for Him.

4) Advent is a time of preparation. We should be preparing ourselves spiritually and emotionally for Christ’s return.

5) Advent is a time of celebration! We can rejoice in the coming of Jesus Christ, who has saved us from our sins and brought us forgiveness
