Thanksgiving Prayer For Those We Lost

For those we lost this year, we remember and honor them in our hearts and minds. We say thank you to their families who are still with us here on earth. We are grateful for their time on this earth and that they have touched our lives. We hope that they will be remembered forever with love by all of us who remain here on earth as well as by Father God in heaven above. Amen.”

This month has been a busy one for me and my family.

This month has been a busy one for me and my family. Between work, school, and other commitments (like writing this blog post), we’ve barely had time to spend together as a unit. But it’s not just the quantity of time that I’m thankful for—it’s also the quality!

I’m thankful that we all have good jobs where we each do our part in making things run smoothly so everyone can enjoy their free time outside of work.

I’m thankful that my daughter is doing well in her studies and sports, which gives her confidence in herself both on and off the field.

I’m thankful that my wife likes to cook because she makes life easier for me when I come home from work exhausted and hungry after a long day at the office; plus she makes some pretty good macaroni and cheese! She even made blueberry pancakes this morning with fresh blueberries from our backyard tree!

There have been ups and downs, joys and sorrows.

There have been ups and downs, joys and sorrows.
We’ve lost loved ones, made mistakes and overcome our fears.
We’ve shared in each other’s lives—and laughed together at life’s absurdities.
In the midst of it all we’ve learned how to cope with the ups and downs; how to celebrate the good times; how to grieve when things didn’t go as planned or hoped for.

But, we have so much to be grateful for that God has blessed us with.

But, we have so much to be grateful for that God has blessed us with. We are grateful for our lives, our health, our family and friends, our jobs and the opportunities we have. We are grateful for the food on our table, the clothes on our backs, the roof over our heads.

I wanted to write this Thanksgiving prayer on the blog to share with you all.

Dear God,

Please be with the families of those who have died this year.

Please give them strength and comfort to carry on as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives.

Give them an unending supply of hope that they will get through this difficult time and come out stronger than before.

If it is their time to join You in Heaven, please be there to welcome them into your loving arms. And if not, please continue protecting them until their time comes around again on earth or in Heaven someday (if it’s not yet).

Dear God,

We know that there are times when we feel like our world is upside down. We are grateful for the blessings you give us each day and the joy that comes from fellowship with others who share our love of You and your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray for those who have lost loved ones this year—those who are suffering from grief in their hearts, minds and bodies—and ask that You comfort them through Your grace, peace and love.

We remember and honor those we lost this year in this Thanksgiving prayer.

We give thanks to God for bringing us through the difficult times that we have experienced this year. We are grateful for the good times we have had this year, and for all of our blessings. We give thanks to God for each other, and all of those who are still here with us today.
