Closing Prayer For Memorial Service

Memorial services are a solemn affair, one that we as a society take very seriously. It’s important to have an appropriate and meaningful way to say goodbye to those we have lost, and a memorial service is the perfect way to do so. There are a number of things you can do to make sure your memorial service is everything you hope it will be. In this blog post, we’ll share some tips for closing prayers for memorial services. These prayers can help set the tone for the entire service and provide closure for everyone involved.

Opening Prayer

“Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to pray for your loved ones who have passed away. We ask that you would give them strength during their transition into the next life and keep them safe. We also ask that you would bless the families with understanding and peace as they go through this difficult time.
In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.”

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen

Our Father,

When we gather around the memorial service for one of our loved ones, it is natural to want to say something. We all have thoughts and memories that come to mind. But what should we say, really? Words can’t begin to capture the magnitude of what has happened or the sadness that still lingers.

That is why we ask that you be with us as we remember and pray for our loved one. Guide their remains through the underworld and into the light of eternity. Give them strength so they may meet you soon. Amen

The Reading

The Memorial Service for the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School was held on December 14th. The service was led by Rev. Dr. Jennifer Butler and included readings from scripture, comments from families of the victims, and song lyrics written by students who were at the school that day.

A prayer was read by Rev. Dr. Butler in which she asked God to comfort those who had lost loved ones that day, as well as to give them strength to continue on in their journey together. One family read a statement detailing how their child’s death had changed their lives forever, while other students shared words of hope and remembrance for those who had died.

The song “Lift Up Your Eyes” was sung by children who were survivors of the shooting, as well as friends and family of the victims. The song speaks to God’s grace and forgiveness, reminding us that no matter what happened that day, God would always be there for us.

A Prayer for the Dying

It is with great sadness that we gather here today to say goodbye to our loved ones who have passed on.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of your loved ones. May they find peace and comfort in eternity.

The Lord has called them home and we must be grateful for the time we were able to spend with them.

We ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers, especially during this difficult time. Thank you for being here today to celebrate their lives.

A Prayer for the Living

I offer this prayer for all who are gathered here today to remember those we have lost.
Lord, we come to pay tribute to those we love and to thank you for your gift of life. We ask that you keep them in your heart and mind as we go about our lives. Guide us as we strive to be kind, understanding, and compassionate. Protect us from harm and allow us to live in peace.

A Final Blessing

Thank you all for coming today. I know this has been a difficult day for many of you. After years of planning and preparation, the Memorial Service for our loved ones is finally over. We have all shared bittersweet memories of those we’ve lost.

Even though this service is over, our memories will stay with us forever. Today, we shared blessings from our faith in hopes that they will help us through this difficult time. As we leave today, may God’s light continue to shine down on us and comfort us as we journey through these difficult days ahead. Thank you once again for coming today.
